Site Prerequisites ( for client and/or contractor)
- Contractor or owner is required to supply and install substrate as per included drawing.
- Minimum substrate overhang ½ beyond face frame or cabinet box. Cement extends 3/4 beyond substrate above surface and ½ beyond substrate edge.
- Wherever appliances or other fixtures interrupt counter runs, plywood shall be held back ¼ minimum to allow for pouring over end grain of plywood.
- All appliances must be on site prior to our arrival for installation.
- Surfaces that are not uniform and level within ¼ per 6' will be bid separately to bring within required tolerances.
- Wood surfaces- to be finished- must have paint , lacquer, or sealer. No unfinished wood in the work area. Cement and water will damage unfinished wood. CE is not responsible for any damage related to unfinished wood in the work area.
- The permanent light fixtures in work area must be connected and working prior to our finishing the cement. This includes under cabinet lighting, can lights, hood lights, etc.
Counters, hearths, mantles, tub decks
CEI Required Working Conditions
- No other sub-contractors are to be in our area during our scheduled time for installation, this is not negotiable.
- Our raw materials require temperatures between 65-80 degrees to be most effective. Some type of HVAC must be available and operating 24 hours before start of work by the contractor or client to meet this if needed. The project otherwise may have to be rescheduled.
- Power, water, and a mixing area available within 100 feet of work area.
General Conditions
- Discrepancies between drawings that bids are made from and actual site conditions may incur extra costs.
- All masking and protection installed by CE must remain in place for the duration of our presence on site. If we must reinstall masking there is a $60.00 per hour charge.
- All surfaces provided by CE include extra low-gloss finish unless otherwise specified.
- Tub decks are poured to the edge of the rough opening so that the flange of the tub will overlap the cement.
- All tubs and sinks will be caulked in with urethane caulking to match the color of the cement as closely as possible.
- Due to the fact that our product is hand crafted, each project can exhibit some irregularity in size, surface and finish which should be expected as inherent character and beauty.
